This story begins not today but back to February of last year (2010). It had been 6 months since I finished my last class at UCI, and was still unemployed. America had it hard; new grads had it hard. The only job I was offered was working retail at an electronics store. 4 plus years of studying and I was in the same place when I was 18 (I'm now 23 by the way). I turned the job down. I know I didn't have any better options but going back to working in retail. No I still had my principles. Whatever they were worth. It was beyond frustrating: living at home, no job, no girl, no purpose.
That is when it happened. Realizing that there was nothing for me here why not go out into the world? Like a character out of a Mark Twain tale, traveling across this wide land looking for a place to begin a new. Kind of like the old saying goes, go west young man! However, in this case since my starting point was Los Angeles, I decided east would be more practical. So that is what I did, I went east. This wasn't the first time I went across the continent. As a kid my family would do roadtrips almost every summer. I've seen a lot of U.S./Canada more so than most. So I kind of had an idea of how to map my route. I'd first head to Las Vegas from there Salt Lake City then head north until I reached Canada.
